“So who’s looking after you, Miss Belle?”

My mouth went dry. I took in his handsome features, the warm brown of his gaze. The temptation and heat of his body were a call to my weary soul. I longed to step toward him, to have him wrap me in his arms, to lose myself in his kiss the way I’d wanted to the night we’d met.
